Who we are

What we collect when you send an enquiry

• Your name, email address and phone number — so we can reply to you.
• The car you asked about, and whether you want to buy or rent — so we can answer usefully.
• Your message.
• An approximate location — the region and country your internet connection appears to be in, worked out from your IP address.

Why we work out an approximate location

We sell and rent cars from Bolton. Knowing roughly whether an enquiry comes from nearby, from elsewhere in the UK, or from overseas helps us answer sensibly — for example about viewing in person, delivery, or whether we can help at all. Our lawful basis for this is legitimate interests.

We only keep the region and country. We do not store your street, town or postcode from your IP address, and we do not track you around the website. This kind of lookup is approximate: mobile networks, VPNs and business broadband can place people some distance from where they really are, so we treat it as a rough hint rather than fact.

How long we keep it

Enquiries reach us as a WhatsApp message or an email, and stay in those inboxes until we no longer need them. The temporary location lookup is cached on our server for 24 hours and then deleted automatically.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing. To work out the approximate location, your IP address is sent to a geolocation provider (ipwho.is, with ipapi.co as a backup) purely to return a region and country. If you contact us on WhatsApp, that conversation is also handled by WhatsApp under their own privacy terms.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also object to our use of approximate location. Email admin@awonikar.com and we will deal with it. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. The car admin area used by staff sets a single sign-in cookie, which visitors never receive.
